Burning Up Tour DETROIT CITYYYYYY
WARNING: THIS WILL BE ONE LONG BLOG
Ok, it wasn't even in Detroit, it was in Clarkston.
Which is approx. a 45 minute drive for me (not including bridge traffic)
I got home from camp at about 2:00pm
And I definitely thought I was going to be late but Doris's sister is a speedy fast driver! WOO!
So we dropped off ashley at her house, then Doris came to my house so we could get ready for the concert.
Ashley & Rana came right over and we left about 2:30-ish.
We took the tunnel instead of the bridge because my dad figured it'd be quickest in case the bridge was backed up.
We got to the DTE Energy Music Theatre at around 3:20pm and there was a huge line to get in!
I was so nervous I was going to be late for the interview. He wanted me there for 3:30pm.
Once we finally get it, we ran back and forth to so many places, and then we were finally told to go to willcall for our backstage passes.
So we get there and the line is massive. We went to the front of the line as asked the guy in line if we could quickly go ahead of him because we're on a tight schedule and ugh, he was so rude.
So we went to the other side and these really nice girls let us ahead of them (THANK YOU)!
So Rana and I got our passes and we headed back to the VIP entrance and stood there for a bit waiting for some guy to come get us to bring us backstage.
The Jonas Brothers were behind schedule because they were shooting a commercial, and doing some press stuff and then had a meeting. And there was some "wardrobe malfunction" and stuff. I was so grateful for that because I think I would've been late for the interview!
Once the guy came, he brought us backstage and introduced us to someone named Carolyn (from DC haha) and she just started working for the Jonas Brothers that day.
We waited with Matthew Rettenmund who is editor-in-chief of Popstar Magazine. He gave us the Stars of Summer magazine to read while we waited which isn't in stores yet, so that was pretty cool.
We waited a little over an hour. And during that time Maya walked in and out of the building holding a clipboard, Daneille walked past us a few times, their hairdresser, make-up artist & stylist Michelle sat at a table in front of us and then posed for pictures in front of the Jonas Brothers backdrop, AND Demi Lovato walked right past me and Rana!
The Jonas Brothers assistant Fe (sweetest lady I've ever met in my life) said she would try to get Demi to meet us. so she went and talked to her music guy and Fe told us that there was some sort of problem with the acoustics so Demi was too busy.
Fe says "y'all" and it's so cute xP
so after waiting, the Jonas Brothers walk out of the building and Kevin waves to me and Joe said "it's so good to see you again!" and I went to shake Joe's hand and he pulled me into a hug saying "I like hugs" so we hugged all of them and then they walked away from us to do an interview with abc news first.
The abc news lady was so weird haha.
"so Kevin, have you gotten any birdhouses yet?"
"No, not yet!"
"How do you feel about birdhouses?"
"... um, I guess every bird needs a home?"
*looks over at Rana and I like 'wtf?'*
Afterwards we went over to them and I'll try to remember everything we said
Carolyn:"ok guys, this is stephanie and irene *kevin looks at me like 'that's not your name..'* from jonas fev.."
Kevin: "jonas fever, of course"
Me: "Actually I'm Jessica, and this is Rana"
Carolyn: Oh, I messed up your names, i'm so sorry!
Me and Rana: "haha, it's ok, no problem.."
*Carolyn walks away*
Kevin: "The last time I saw you was in New York (he's right! ahh my love), but you were with.."
Me: "yeah, the other Jessica couldn't be here!"
Kevin: "Oh.. that's ok"
Then we did the brief interview thing and we took some pictures with them (three pictures, except I only like one of them. in one Nick is looking away [spaz haha] and in the other one Kevin looks goofy.)
Afterwards I had then sign 3 posters, and Kevin signed them on my hand, ahhh (hahahaha)
Since they were already behind schedule, they had to rush off to get ready for the concert. I was just so thankful they actually still took the time to squeeze me in their schedule!
And I'm so thankful for Victor for e-mailing me, and being so patient with me and talking with the security guard convincing him to let me backstage.
And thank you to Matt Petroff for actually allowing the interview into the schedule. And also Mr. Jonas for allowing us too!
AND the Jonas Brothers for being so extremely nice and making me feel comfortable around them.
Once we left the interview, we walked back upfront with the guy who led us backstage and he got our tickets scanned and me and Rana got food for the 4 of us while we waited for Ashley and Doris to get through.
Expensive food! DANG
I didn't buy any merch, like usual haha
I'm so cheap.
We went to our seats and I thought the seats were going to be so bad, but they weren't at all!
We were row VV but it wasn't as far back as I thought they were and we were right up the middle. AND the girls in front of us were short.
They were so cute too. We showed them the picture of us with the Jonas Brothers and they started freaking out, hahaha.
Demi Lovato was so good! The acoustics were a bit off but she sang through them and was amazing!
It bugged me how people sat through her performance, she was so GOOD!!!
I really like her songs and I'll probably get her cd.
The Jonas Brothers performance was incredible. It was my 11th show and it was my 2nd favourite (of course nothing beats my Grand Rapids experience) but the show itself was the best performance I've ever seen them do. It was unbelievable. They're so amazing.
During Good Night & Goodbye, Nick and Joe did some crazy flips (Nick was better, no offence of course).
During.. um, maybe Hello Beautiful? (I can't remember) they started rising up on these really high poles. It was crazy! I would've been so scared, they were up way high!
They played a lot of new songs and they were so great! I didn't really know the words (neither did anyone else) but the energy was still as high as the songs people knew the words too.
They did a cover of a Shania Twain song called "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" and Ashley and I knew just about all the words haha That's what you get for growing up with Shania Twain music xP
They also dedicated a song to their dad but I couldn't catch the name of it.
They had these violin players all in red dresses and they were so good! I loved them.
Even though in magazines, before Camp Rock came out, the Jonas Brothers said they wouldn't be playing any Camp Rock songs on their tour.
Well, they did anyways?
Joe sang Gotta Find You, they all sang Play My Music, and then Demi came out and did the duet with Joe, This is Me.
OH! At the very beginning, they showed some commercials for how they're 'going green' and their deal with Chevy and they found a family in the parking lot who was driving a hybrid car and came then front row seats! NICE!
And they also showed the commercial for Change For the Children and I yelled for everyone to friggin stop yelling "Nick you're so hot, I love you" If you love him, listen to what he has to say! Geez haha
The show was pretty long, they played SO many songs. The encore was When You Look Me In The Eyes and SOS.
The first new song they played was Shelf (formally known as Don't Take My Heart and Put It On A Shelf hahaha. Yeah it was too long of a name).
It was such a good show though. The lighting, the performance, the songs, the stage! Everything was so amazing. I was speechless.
They put everything they had into the show and it really showed they were having a good time.
Ashley and I both guessed there was about 15,000-20,000 people there. It was PACKED!
People running to get close lawn seating were insane. They were all running down the hill and I saw some people take a tumble and yeow!
But I think most of the people on the lawn were more enthusiastic than the people in seats, which was kind of sad to see.
Ashley, Rana, Doris & I were on our feet the entire time. The only time we sat was waiting for the Jonas Brothers to come out.
And running on 2 hours of sleep, that was a hard thing to do!
After the show, we walked to the car and we were showing my mom and dad the pictures of me and Rana with the guys,
and Rana said "during the picture, Kevin kept pulling you closer to him and I felt left out haha"
Then I died.
Ahh, Kevin <333
We all were practically asleep the whole way home (it was after midnight) except Ashley was completely out like a light. We looking at pictures and videos the whole way home and were trying to just soak everything in.
It was so amazing. I had such a good time!
