Just makin' lifestyle changes

I've been wanting to do this for a long time, since I was probably about 10 years old, but it's a hard thing to do without support from your family. But I think I've come up with a good plan.

I'm going vegetarian.

I wish I had the will power to go vegan, but maybe when I'm a bit older. Call me lazy or whatever, but I love milk and eggs (well, ice cream, cookies, cakes, etc.) and I don't really want to have to buy special ice creams and milks and stuff. Especially if I were to go out for dinner or something, it's just too much of a fuss for now.

I've decided to be an ovo-lacto vegetarian. That means I will not eat anything that comes from any animals, such as beef, pork, poultry, fish, but I can have milk and eggs. That means I can also have cheese, because giving up cheese would be a really really hard thing for me.

I finally came to the decision today at work. while on my break I was really hungry and usually I don't like to eat from McDonalds or any sort of fast food because it just upsets my stomach. But when I do eat McDonalds, it's almost always chicken (because the salads are nasty). So I decided to get a fajita, with only chicken and cheese (basically I just left out the green peppers and onions, blech).
I came back from my break and I felt SO sick to my stomach. I wasn't even food poisoned or anything, it was just that the digestion process was extremely discomforting.

On Friday, Danni, Daliz, Natalie and I went around filming for my Media Arts project, which is a PSA about animal cruelty. For Natalie, her role was to eat just straight up chicken from KFC. Well, Natalie was sort of grossed out by the chicken and I didn't want to waste the $5 I spent, so I ate the chicken. And of course, I felt sick afterwards.

I don't even really like meat. Ok, giving up turkey sandwiches will be really hard, especially from Subway, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

SO! My Brilliant plan!

Phase 1 - Learn to love vegetables.
I'm a really picky eater, so I figured, if I was going to become a vegetarian, I might want to be able to actually eat vegetables. So even though I hate them now, I'm going to eat them and convince my taste buds that I love them. I ate cauliflower tonight ... yum ...

Phase 2 - Slowing eliminate meat
I figured it would be too difficult to cut out meat all at once, so I'll do it slowly but steadily. I'll probably start with pork (or any pig meat) since I don't really like it anyways. Turkey will most likely be the last to be eliminated.

Phase 3 - Be full out ovo-lacto vegetarian, HOOSHAW!
I'm hoping this will help with my health because a lot of the time I just feel sick after eating anything with animal products. Also, by this time, I doubt I'll be relying on my mom to cook my meals and buy my food, so it'll be easier for me.

After doing research for my PSA on animal cruelty, I think it's definitely in mine, and animals, best interest for me to become vegetarian (:
