It takes two to make an accident
I did it! I passed! I'm now officially a licensed driver! Hoo-shaw :)
I left school early and went to take my driver's test. The place was absolutely packed. I checked-in and handed in my G1 license (Ontario driving laws are weird. It's much harder to get your license in Canada than it is in the United States. G1 is your 'beginners' and you can only drive with a licensed driver). Then I was told to go sit in my car and wait for my examiner. Well, 40 minutes and 6 radio stations later, my examiner finally taps on my window.
So we get going and I'm doing really well. Then she asks me to pull over and park uphill. Ok, I studied this at lunch, no biggie. Pull over (with signal), gear in park, emergency brake up, wheel turned to the left. Awesome, she says to keep going. I gear in drive, turn off my 4-way (only to realize they weren't on, I'd forgot to turn them on. She asks me to turn off my 4-way) and I start driving. Then I hear this weird beeping as I start to drive away. She tells me, in an annoyed voice, to turn off my emergency brake. I get flustered, turn it off, do my parallel park and drive away.
Then the crazy lady tells me to make a left onto a street that you can either go straight or turn left. Assuming she meant for me to go left, I start to go and she yells "WHAT ARE YOU DOING, STOP" I was like "what? I'm turning left.." and she says "turn left and go straight"
Well, I don't know! Be more specific, crazy! so I'm sitting horizontal in a vertical lane. Greeeat. There is a van behind me so I can't back-up, so I sat there and prayed the light would turn green and no cars would hit me while I waited to get into a lane.
By this time my face is beet red and my nerves are shot. she tells me to make my way back and that my test is over. I honestly thought I failed. I was holding back tears, let me tell ya.
I parked in the parking lot, she tells me I turn corners too slow and to wait in line to get my G2 license. I jumped out of the car and waved my "OMG-YOU-PASSED-GO-DRIVE-ALL-YOUR-FRIENDS-AROUND-NOW" paper at my dad. So thrilled!
Well, that was long and boring.
How about this then: today in english, my teacher is going around the class to see who finished their chapter 5 essay. She reaches my desk, marks me down and says to me "you have a very interesting writing style" and walks away.
What the hell does that mean? Interesting good? Interesting bad? God, I hope it's good. I need her to elaborate if I'm going into journalism next year. I hope it's interesting good. Hopefully interesting unique. Hopefully I have a style of writing that brings out my personality and my passion. Yeah, I'll just convince myself that's what she means :)
Ps - if you know where my title (quote) is from, gold star for you!

YAY CONGRATS!
I'm going to try and get mine in the next week or so... I'm pretty nervous.
Luckily Maryland driver's tests are off road, so I only have to parallel park, do a turn about, and do a fifty foot backup.
But I'm so nervous, since I have to take it in our highlander, and I've learned everything in a small car, so I have to go and practice.
And we have a first step in driving too. First we have to take a written test to get our learner's permit, where we can drive with an adult, then we get our provisional license, which we take a driving test, where we can't drive with anyone other then family for the first six months, and we can't drive between 12am to 6am. After a year and a half or so we get our full license.
(:
So its kind of complicated here too, sometimes.
But yay! I'm so happy for you :)
